I thought i had done so well this season avoiding the flu but it seems to have caught me yesterday. I have ben astounded by the speed it has arrived and overtaken me. I woke with a sniffly nose and by lunchtime i was already feeling as though a bus had hit me!
The problem with being a parent of young children is that you no longer get to have sick days!I also know that despite my best intentions the girls will probably have what i have in a few days and this means going from one room to the other all night and two little people velcroed to my side each day. I just hope i have recovered a little by then because i feel awful at the moment. I just wanted to pop in to let those know who have been stopping by that i haven't already given up on blogging….just no energy at moment to do a proper post.
Although developing the flu yesterday i had an appointment with the peadiatrician for the girls to review their reflux , check growth and to discuss Ruby's eating issues. I had to keep the appointment as we had been waiting for 3 months! Yet again i was disappointed in the health professionals attitudes. He is a nice doctor and i know they are all very busy…but you know what, so am i!
It constantly astounds me that appointments i attend with the girls are very rarely held in child safe rooms. Now that i have to take 2 with me i think i notice it even more so maybe i am just being picky but these people work on a daily basis with children so i don't think it is to much to ask that their rooms and reception areas are child friendly. I spend the whole time chasing one or the other and stopping them from hurting themselves with dangerous items. I don't ever get much out of these appointments because i am so distracted trying to keep them safe. What is even more frustrating is that none of these professionals ever try to help…they just look at me disdainfully like i can't control my kids and aren't listening to them!
Sorry if that sounds negative…maybe it is that i am sick but i am really finding these appointments so stressful and often so rude. We had to wait for half an hour as the doc ‘had to make some calls', then i heard him having a chat in the kitchen while he made self a cuppa…all while i had the girls strapped into the pram for this time as the reception area was open and not safe at all for kids (a peadeatricians office for godness sake!)when we finally got in there he proceeded to take 3 calls on desk phone and mobile during our appointment i had to pay over $250 for!
Anyway, i don't mean to rant…i just wonder whether a little courtesy wouldn't go astray and if i am the only one that experiences these issues or whether i am just finding it harder with twins to occupy!Does anyone else have these concerns when visiting health professionals with young children i wonder?
Off to get these girls some dinner and hopefully down for the night so i can crawl into bed….any home remedies for the flu and sore throat most appreciated if you feel like sharing!Hopefully back on deck soon!
Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by
