Joining in with Rhonda at DTE today for ‘on my mind'……
Today on my mind is ………wet nappies and getting them dry in this wet weather…this is only 1 load….twins go through quite a few nappies each day and i do find it hard to get them dry in wet weather without using the dryer which i try not to do. If the wet weather persists i will go back to using terry flats and wraps for awhile as they are so much easier to dry!
Also on my mind today are tomatoes as i am bringing in at least a bowlful of little ones each day at the moment…they taste so sweet and juicy and i am a girl who has never liked raw tomato…i am converted! Time to make some of Rhonda's relish recipe here (that's catchy isn't it?)again on the weekend i think.
What do you make with bumper tomato crops? And if you use cloth nappies what do you do during long wet spells?
Have a lovely weekend everyone…..

Wow Jode….wet weather and two sets of nappies. Will keep you busy. I admire you for using “real” nappies. Tomatoes…..I can’t wait for ours. I blend ours with onion, garlic and greens (parsley, spinach, celery etc). I put this in a big saucepan with a bit of water and orange lentils. Add salt and pepper to taste. We have this with pasta and a sprinkle of parmesan. I blend the above ingredients because I have some fussy eaters. It is also good because you can leave the skin on the tomatoes. I don’t fry the onion and garlic, just blend it all raw. So easy and so nice. I hope we get some of your rain. We are meant to today. Have a lovely day and weekend. xxoo

I almost always used cloth nappies as disposables gave my babies rashes so they were a last resort. I had a dozen nappies I left the tags on that were ‘dryer’ nappies, which became 2 dozen when the second child came along and I had 2 in nappies. Those were the only ones that went in the dryer so consequently the only ones that were artificially thinned and ended up as dusters long before the others. Winters were easy as the nappies dried near the wood stove. My place looked like an old fashioned Chinese laundry!
I also make relish when I have excess tomatoes though I have a recipe for a pizza sauce that bottles well and keeps in the fridge for about 3 weeks that is great with pasta too. Email me if you’d like it :).
Cheers,
Robyn

Hi, coming to you from Down to Earth.
We have long periods of rain here in Nth Qld’s summer and I found a clothes line in the garage near the roller door helped speed things up when it comes to drying clothes. I rarely used the dryer and often, with 2 babies under 2 my house often resembled a laundry with clothes everywhere – hanging off backs of chairs, on coat hangers over doors etc.
I’m glad to read I’m not the only one who has a home that resembles a laundry, too! Now, where did I leave the ‘folding the clothes and putting them away’ fairy?

Barefoot bride…if you ever find that fold and put away angel pls send them here too…i don’t mind washing and hanging but gee i hate the washing mountain ‘fold’! Good tip re the roller doors, i might rearrange our line a bit downstairs!
