It's was a busy week here….and Winter definitely has us in her grips now! I love the crisp, cool days with the warm sun and blue, blue skies though….i hope they continue and the rain stays away…we have been having so much fun outdoors lately!
There was lots of Nature Playdough Fun with beans, twigs and playdough outside….the Toddler twosome enjoyed discovering ways to press the beans and twigs into the dough then turned to some more twig collecting and rolling in the grass…..
There was some fun with paints on our spool table with some recycled cardboard trays brought home from Daddy's work….the trays have a waxy coating so they made lovely patterns and gave us lots to discover and ‘talk' about. I so love the wonder always present in a toddler's eyes….wish i could remember that magic time of learning and play!!
A girl can never have too many brushes to choose from!
Tara especially loved the patterns the paint and wax made!
Ruby wandered to her favourite spot to do a little fence painting!(Was freezing out of the sun though let me add!!!)
My little thinker with a few brushes on the go at once….
There was some slashing finally done in the paddocks as the rain has stopped ….i love the smell of cut grass…..if only we could get out and put into action all the great ideas we have for this land! But for now keeping our little family happy and busy is more important than landscaping….for now it's just about maintenance in the paddocks and concentrating on the house and kid's yard!
At the bottom of this pic you might see a little patch of land fenced off from the wallabies with some poly tunnels near a house (brown roof)…this is actually our land which we let the neighbours use to raise seedlings and grow vegies for their market stalls. They are lovely people and we are happy to see our vacant land being used in this productive way. Have you ever shared a piece of your land with others?
We are so fortunate i know, to live in this beautiful area and have the space to stretch out and explore our dreams….this is the view from our back verandah…i love to watch the rain and fog rolling in downtown below and follow its journey as it makes it's way up to us!
The wattles are in glorious colour at the moment and look so beautiful against a blue winter sky!
I'm always amazed at how many birds love these trees…but they are hard to get a photo of!
We also inspected the bananas last week and decided they are ready to pick now…we did pick some from this bunch a month ago but they were just too young and didn't ripen unfortunately!
We also received a lovely present in the mail this week which had me reflecting on these knitted squares and needles……
and this lovely embroidered set….both truly a part of the toddler twosomes' family history and true Gifts from the Past.
I made up a lovely big batch of curried chunky vegetable and lentil soup on the weekend to see the big people through lunches this week! I am living on soup lately it seems…i love winter food and how the soup warms up the kitchen as it simmers away!
Miss Teen had to cook and photograph a meal suitable for a pregnant woman for her Food Technology course last week…she made tuna and lentil mornay with brown rice and steamed veg…was yummy too!
Don't you just love the ‘Masterchef' presentation! Pretty hard to make a mornay look good but i think she did well!
All in all….there was a lot of painting, gardening, cooking and just wandering outside in the sun…hopefully it is much the same this week…what did your family enjoy last week?
Warm Wishes….

You sure know how to keep busy Jode ๐
How fab of your girl to put so much thought not only into cooking that delicious meal but also into the presentation.
It’s awesome that you have allowed your neighbours to use some of your land for now, I would imagine they must be very grateful to you.
It’s terribly cold here at the moment that I really can’t be bothered doing much at all.

The weather is so cold here too but sadly it hasn’t been beautiful blue skies, it’s been raining again:(
What a beautiful view you have from your verandah and so lovely that you are able to share a part of your land with others:)
I love soups too especially at the moment, they are my favourite winter warmer. Your Miss Teen did well with her meal presentation too, it looks very professional and sounds yummy. xx

I would love some cool weather right now! Yesterday may have been the hottest day of the year – perfect for spending 6 hours outside at a swim meet where you don’t really watch but have to WORK the whole time. Over 100 and total humidity – feels like a sauna! Love your land – we live in the suburbs near Houston so it is flat and we just have our little backyard. You have beautiful views.

it’s so weird to be complaing about the cold when you are so hot over there…i actually prefer the cold to the humidity so i feel for you!!And the swim meet sounds a little like torture with water so close yet so far you poor thing!
The views have the power to cheer me up on a really bad day!!

I heard on the radio today, some politician saying we need to get our children outside more as only a tiny % of children could identify a wattle tree, OMG, what is wrong with parents, don’t they point these out or go to parks or walk around the neighbourhood!! No fear you do!! Love Posie

You do have amazing views from where you live. I should think you could waste hours taking in that veranda view! I do love the idea of children getting creative outdoors, so much easier than in the house when walls and tables are at risk from the paint brush! We do rent one of our fields and stables out too and it works well, we also have wallabies, strange to think when we are the other side of the world! I would love you to link up on Country Kids with me too.
