Last week was all about blue skies and warm winds blowing through giving us a brief glimpse of Summer to come! We have gone back to cooler weather this week it seems but we certainly made the most of the warmer days when we had them!
Ruby discovered spray bottles and how to squeeze the trigger….only problem is she could only do it with the bottle facing her…hence this happy painted face! Was worth it to see the achievement and wonder in her eyes when she mastered this skill though!
There was a little potato masher printing…in our pyjamas still of course which added to the fun!
More work was done on the backyard landscaping…a very slow process but i have every faith we will get there one day……post with some updates on what we are doing soon!
Unfortunately a sewer pipe was hit which meant a trip to Bunnings (and goodness you can waste time in that place!) and a lost afternoon while fixing!
And a puppy who i think really is becoming most annoyed at the constant intrusion of an excavator in ‘her' backyard!
There was one of my favourite throw together meals of curried mince, cabbage, vegies and noodles. My Mum used to call it KiSuMin…all i know is that it is so easy, quick and tasty and uses up lots of the cabbage ready in the garden!
Miss Teen was also very busy completing cooking tasks for her external food technology subject…so we enjoyed…..
Chocolate scones with strawberries and cream…..
Vegetable Couscous…….
Old Fashioned Lemon Delicious Pudding….
And Apple Teacake….all very yum…and she did so well on presentation i thought!
The toddler twosome pulled out their favourite cardboard tubes again and we were busy finding ways to use them…..here they had fun pushing small cars down the tubes and catching them!
Miss Teen felt like camping during the week and the toddler twosome discovered the tent the next day with much joy!
A nice little spot to read a story….with your favourite beads of course!
And a great place to play peek a boo with your sister!
The warmer weather let us have some fun with water and sand again…..you might notice i am still waiting for my new sandpit….Daddy has been busy in the backyard instead so we can't complain too much although it really is getting a tight squeeze now!
The favourite activity of the week was pouring and making Mummy cups of tea…great practice for hand-eye coordination and lots of fun!
We picked lots of little daisy's to add to sand and water creations….
And i really enjoyed having the sun dry all the nappies and washing each day rather than still being a little damp still when the sun went down!
So a simple week of household tasks and activities for the girls but that's really just the way i like it! I'm still rather pleased with the fact that i made it to a playgroup and it went well!Sometimes it's the simple things in our life that remind us of what can be achieved if we keep trying even though the fear of failure is often present.
The warmer weather did remind me of the jobs that need to be started outside before the weather gets to hot so i will be trying to get in and tidy gardens, plant vegies and organise our watering systems over the next month.
What jobs do you like to get done before Summer arrives?
Have a lovely week everyone……i have one more skin cancer to be cut out on Wednesday and then i can breathe a little sigh of relief…..hopefully i won't be too sore to attempt a playgroup visit again!
Warm Wishes

Jode, I love that you let your kids get dirty. I am not so good at that:)
Looks like you had some delicious food on the weekend. And I agree, Miss Teen’s presentation efforts are great.

It sounds like all of you had a great week Jode, it seems like you are feeling content and happy, sun shiney days are such a joy to have. I can see the girls are having lots of fun being outside and getting nice and messy, they look very cute sitting in the tent having a little read of their books. Your big teen is doing so well with her cooking Jode, when she one day moves away you’ll know she will always be able to cook herself something nice and healthy. Have a wonderful week Jode. xx

That cabbage/mice dish is one my Mum used to make (she called it Chow Mein) and I recently gave it a go for us knowing it was one of those easy to prepare/heat up meals. Your big girl is quite the cook… all her creations look yummy! x

So funny how we are in different seasons. It was near 100 today but felt like about 110. Just being outside 10 minutes in the sun at the bus stop did me in! Can’t wait for some COOLER weather here! I wish I had a teenager to make such delicious food too!
