Fun of the Fair.... - The Empowered Educator

Been a little hard to get some computer time this weekend in amongst family activities and a cracker of a migraine unfortunately.

Thank you to all for your suggestions re the wallabies…came out this morning and the blighters had munched all of my new azelea blooms in the front garden(that will teach me for weeding the beds last week and apparently giving them ease of access!) I think the solution is going to be some ongoing fencing, just hurts to have to fence everything i guess when one of the reasons for buying this acreage was the open space to spread with gardens etc.

I guess though we have to live with the wildlife rather than trying to constantly fight against it. Sometimes i can't believe we are still right in town and just down off a main road. I remember being amazed that there was such bird and wildlife in existence here and it led me to wonder where had they all gone when the houses were built?I will try to recapture that initial feeling a bit and again feel lucky to live in this space.

We went to the North Coast National Show yesterday and really Ruby and Tara are still too young but enjoyed getting out into the sunshine…Mum and Dad however were exhausted by lunchtime although we were rewarded with a 3hr nap…unfortunately the girls not us! We were up until midnight the previous night as i had to pick Ashleigh up from the show outing with friends (and yes, contrary to my mummy worries she was fine!)

A double pram in the old exhibit halls was not always a success and i think hazard lights would not of gone astray at times but at least i got to see some crafts and baking. This exhibit was particularly interesting and enjoyed by all the children. A very clever use of corn, beans, veg.

The animal farm was popular with Tara who is my outdoor girl but a little scary for Ruby my little princess!

Do you have an annual agricultural show? What is your favourite exhibit or do you enter the competitions? I always fear putting in entries for some reason although both his patient self and the teen commented that i should have put some bread in this year bless them! If only they knew how basic and imperfect my bread is…..but it is wonderful to be loved isn't it?

And now i am off to have a slice of inperfection as it smells so perfect cooling down on the bench!! Hope your weekend has been full of warmth.
